Founded in 1998, NW Family Advocates originally began as NW Youth Alternatives with our focus on "at risk" youth. NW Youth Alternatives provided chaplaincy services, mentoring and counseling to youth in juvenile detention facilities. With a team of highly skilled and trained volunteers, NW Youth Alternatives touched the lives of hundreds of youth not just from the local area, but also from around the world.
As our ministry expanded we began working with the families of these youth, providing counseling and parenting training to assist them in re-connecting with their teens and integrating them back into the family. Our volunteers provided hundreds of hours of free services to families in our community.
Over time it became apparent that we needed to enlarge our vision to reach the needs of people we were serving with a more professional level of assistance. To this end we began offering affordable professional counseling, mentoring and life coaching to these families.
With the addition of professional counseling to our services, our scope of ministry grew, and we began working with individuals as well as families and youth, counseling them for a full range of issues. In 2009 we changed our name from NW Youth Alternatives to NW Family Advocates to reflect this focus on families.
NW Family Advocates has helped hundreds of men, women, youth and families find hope and healing. We enjoy the support of our community, local churches and businesses. Our staff is certified by the state of Washington and strives to stay abreast of the latest research and methods by participating in continuing education programs.
We offer affordable counseling, mentoring, life coaching and mediation in a compassionate and professional environment. We stand ready to help you reach your life goals.
